Who knew cupcakes could be so dangerous?!?

I just wanted to explain why I have been missing in action lately. A while back I hurt my wrist and had been pushing past the pain to decorate the stuff I was doing. One night I noticed that my fingers were really cold to the touch and numb so I made an appt to see my doctor the next day. He ended up telling me that I have muscles that are swelling with no where to go which then is cutting off the bloodflow to my hand. Eventually this will lead to permanent damage, numbness, or worst case scenario would be emergency surgery to restore bloodflow if I push it too far. Only solution he had for me is to stop what was causing the swelling which would be piping out all of the decorations which equals not making anymore cupcakes. He said this is something that would not fix itself and so I would have to be careful of what I do forever. I'm sure you can imagine how upset I was once I got to my car from his office. I'm sure if the people around me in the parking lot knew I was crying over cupcakes they would think I was crazy lol.

So I have tried to take it easy since then in hopes that I will get complete feeling back in my hand. It hasn't happened yet so I am wondering if maybe I pushed too far already. I guess only time will tell. I have a wedding this week (check back for the pictures!) of some of our closest friends that I will be doing the cupcakes for. It has been planned for months and I just couldn't NOT do it since this came up. I am so honored they asked me and they are two of the nicest and sweetest people I have met so I am so happy to do this for them. I am also excited to get to decorate again. Unfortunately it will be the last big order I will do. After that I am going to take a break and just have fun here and there baking and decorating on days I feel my wrist can take it. I am hoping doing them in smaller amounts (maybe 1 dozen instead of 20 dozen) instead of such large amounts at once will help things out and not be as bad on the swelling. I will still post pictures when I do and hope you keep checking in to see them!

So that is why you haven't seen much for a while. Hopefully you will be seeing more soon! Thanks for all of your comments, emails, and for always checking in!

More monkey cupcakes and cupcake baby rattles

Here are some monkey cupcakes I did a while back as practice. This was the original colors and monkey for the baby shower I just did (posted somewhere below) but the colors and monkey face changed before the actual day arrived months later. When they asked for a monkey I knew I would practice because I hadn't done those before. I just wanted to see if I could make it look like a monkey. I said no (I am my worst critic) and everyone else said yes. This was also around the same time I was trying out the baby rattles and turned these into rattles too. I think the rattle idea is adorable. Not just with these but with any design you want. I have a different design on them I posted a while back. I just think it is a super cute idea for baby showers. So here are some more monkey cupcakes...

Baseball cupcakes x 23 dozen

I was asked a while ago to do a baseball themed cupcake to which I immediately said yes and did a practice batch (you've seen those on here in a past post). Then a few weeks ago I was asked if I could up the amount to 23 dozen to which I immediately started sucking my thumb while curled into the fetal position (just kidding!!). I had never done that many in one set before so I was wondering how it would go and where I would go with that many cupcakes in the kitchen. So with a little nervousness I started baking. I found a system right away that kept it running smooth and it ended up working out perfectly.
Here are some pictures I took while I was decorating...

loading them up to deliver

After I get done baking I always ALWAYS take a picture of the set of cupcakes to put on here. I have a picture of every set of finished cupcakes I have ever made. I was so upset the day I delivered them because I realized I did not take a picture of the finished cupcakes all together. The only ones I had were the couple of cellphone pictures I had taken to send my cousin and a couple of me making the baseballs (all the pictures above). After I told them this the wonderful ladies sent me a couple of pictures for me to see how they looked when they were set up on the table. I was so happy to be able to see this. I thought the whole thing turned out so cute and they did a great job with the theme AND I got a picture to put on here. YAY!!

Flower Cluster Cupcakes

One of my favorite (and I think one of the prettiest) designs to do on the cupcakes is this one. I think it is one of those that always turn out pretty no matter what colors you are using. I call it a flower cluster because that is what it reminds me of. Others might not think so but it is what I see when looking at it :)

Lions, Frogs, and Monkey cupcakes!!

Baby shower time!! Some friends of mine asked me to do the cupcakes for a baby shower of one of our friends. She is having a precious baby boy in May. Today was the big day. I wish I had a picture of how they decorated the hall. It was so cute and the cupcakes ending up matching their decorations great!

Cupcake bouquet for a special lady

My mother in law asked me to make something for one of her best friends who is turning 80 years old tomorrow. She is such a sweet and funny lady that I have grown to adore since meeting my husband so I was excited to do this for her. I pretty much could do what I wanted so I decided to make her a bouquet of birthday flowers that she and her friends could enjoy :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINY!!!

Ready for summer cupcakes

I sat here forever trying to decide what path I wanted to go in with these cupcakes. I love when people say "just whatever you want to do" when they order. One it makes me feel great that they trust that I will come up with something good and two it gives me a little freedom to play around with colors and design. So after I got started I knew I wanted to do the orange and white. It reminds me of creamsicle and I think it is a pretty combo. After that I was stumped on what would go good with that. So I ended up going with the colors of sherbet and I loved how they turned out. The design is one of my favorites to do. I think it always turns out pretty. So I loved these. They make me think of summer and if there is one thing I like thinking about right now it is warm weather!! I am ready for it!

Having fun with my mother in laws cake

For my mother in laws birthday I decided to make a cupcake cake. I didn't have much time to put it all together and didn't remember to take the picture until I was loading it into the box so it isn't a very pretty picture but wanted to throw it on here anyway.
Can you tell what one of her main interests is? :)

Finally some cupcakes!

An order from last week
Something about chocolate, lots of icing, and oreos all together makes me very happy.
